Intumescent Fire-retardant Paint

Glo-Protek Intumescent Coatingis an intumescent fire-retardant paint that not only retards the spread of fire, it also insulates the substrate from the intense heat of a fire. This coating dries quickly to a flat matt finish having the appearance of conventional matt finish paint.

On contact with fire or excessive heat, the paint puffs up (intumesces), forming a thick, spongelike cellular foam layer over 100 times thicker than the original paint film. This foam layer insulates the substrate from the heat of the flame, thus retarding flame spread and minimising / delaying structural failure.

Painting System

Wood	600-800 micron (achieved in 3 or 4 coats). No primer required.
Masonry	600-800 micron (achieved in 3 or 4 coats). No primer required.
Steel	1 coat Glo-Protek HR Zinc Chrome Primer. (DFT. 30-35μm) 600-1500 micron DFT Glo-Protek Fire-Rating Coat. (Up to 2hour rating)
Note: A suitable top coat must be applied on the Glo-Protek Intumescent Coating in all cases
Minimum recoating period	24 hours after Glo-Protek HR Zinc Chrome Primer (48 hrs in case of humid climate) 12-14 hours between coats.
Drying Times	Surface Dry: 4 hours
Hard Dry	12 hours - Allow 5 days for complete curing
Viscosity	Thixotropic
Covering Capacity	30 to 40 sq. ft. per litre per coat depending on the surface. (200-250 Microns Dry Film Thickness per coat)
Thinner	Monarch’s Thinner For Glo-Protek Intumescent Coating Monarch’s Thinner For Glo-Protek HR Zinc Chrome Primer
Material does not need to be thinned under normal application. However, if desired, 5% thinner can be used for better brushability.

Shelf Life

12 months

WARNING

Flammable liquid & vapour. Contains solvents & petroleum distillates. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. Vapours may cause flash fire. Do not smoke. Extinguish all flames and other sources of ignition during application and until all vapours are gone. Prevent buildup of vapours by opening all windows and doors to achieve cross-ventilation.

FIRST AID

If you experience difficulty in breathing. Leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continued difficulty is experienced, get medical assistance immediately. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for atleast 15 minutes and get medical attention. For skin, wash thoroughly with soap and water. If swallowed, get medical attention immediately
